In 2016, Sir Ben Ainslie – the most successful Olympic sailor of all time – turned his sights on winning the America’s Cup for Britain in the 35th staging of the competition. His craft for the 2017 attempt, ‘Rita’ (a state-of-the-art catamaran sponsored by Land Rover), is raced by a crew of five, but to get her out on the water takes the efforts of many more people. It was also the work of ‘the 150 off the boat’ that was Houghton’s focus for this project. This was the second time Houghton worked with Sir Ben. He first worked with him at the 2012 London Olympics.
