For the centenary of the RAF Houghton was commissioned to meet and sketch the remaining airmen who flew Spitfires, Hurricanes and Lancasters during WWII (click here for short video). He created a group picture of the four surviving fighter pilots who flew on the Battle of Britain entitled ‘The Last of the Few’, and a group picture of the seven remaining bomber airmen entitled ‘The Last of the Many’ which included the only remaining Dam Buster Johnnie Johnston. Both group portraits were auctioned and raised £75,000 for the RAF Air Cadets.
